HOLIDAY CLUB 2009
Once again last year the
first week of the summer holidays brought lots of children onto the campus at SABC. Great Fun was had by all as we fired up our time machine to go 'Back to the Future' in the big top on the field.
Each day we met a different time traveller from all periods of history who told us about God's plan to save us. Mini Norm appeared each day, and having been 'shrunk' by the time machine he was looking for a way back to full size - and happiness! We also had a 'time team' family who shared a daily adventure.
As well as all this we had dodge ball, bucket ball, relay races, target games, quizzes, craft and singing. The sun shone and a great time was had by all. We praise God for no injuries or accidents.
To finish the week off many parents joined us for a wonderful and warm Saturday afternoon of water games on the field rounded off by a BBQ and followed the next day by the final club session and family picnic.
Many thanks to all who came along and particularly to all who helped in many ways to make this week so enjoyable. Don't forget we meet every Monday night during term time for our JunXion club in the clubroom upstairs at SABC (for 5-11yrs age group) starting Mon 14th Sept from 6.30-7.30pm.
Watch out for details of next years Holiday Club to be published soon.
Here are some pics from a previous club...(pics from this year to be published soon).
BAPTISM
JOY AT SABC
We
rejoice greatly in the baptisms at SABC during 2007. It has encouraged
us to open the pool on two occasions baptising four candidates.
On Easter Sunday Naomi, Laura and Bradley (from our youth group)
were all brave enough to give their testimonies in front of a packed
chapel before going through the waters of baptism. Then on Sunday
20th May Nick Carlton-Smith was did the same. Nick's baptism was
an additional blessing one of his friends put his trust in Jesus
after the service.
We also
praise God for the willingness of these candidates to join our church
membership along with others who are now attending. We look forward
to all ages working together for the glory of Jesus.
Ted
& Cecil on BBC Radio Suffolk
In
spite of our best efforts to ignore them we occasionally have a
visit from a couple of local boys called Ted Ringer and Cecil Pitt.
Calling themselves 'tew owd boyz' they try to entertain us with
tales of Suffolk life and culture.
Ocassionally funny, they seem (somehow) to have developed a bit
of a following and often accompany the boy band 'Born in a barn'
when they sing around the county (several SABC men are in BinaB).

Now,
out of the blue, Ted & Cecil have hit the big time! In April 2008 they were invited in to BBC Radio Suffolk to spend a
couple of hours as 'guests on the sofa' with Lesley Dolphin. We
had to send Harry and Jonathan (Steed) to look after them as they
can get up to mischief on a day out in town. But all went off well
and a good time was had by all. Now they tell us they are 'waiten
fur the nod from the Lundun Pull-aye-deum'. Talk about ideas above
their station!
Thanks
to Lesley and the BBC Radio Suffolk staff for making it such an
enjoyable experience.
Youth
Day at Stoke Ash Baptist Church
The
theme for last years Youth day on Sunday 7th June was
'Miracles of Jesus'. David Rushbrook (soon to be pastor at Sudbourne & Tunstall) joined our youngsters in looking at some of the incredible things Jesus did including:
- Healing a paralised man?
- Healing a sick woman?
- Bringing Lazarus back to life?
Our youngsters took part
in the services and our growing team of musicians led the worship.
Thanks also to those
who came and to those who provided such an excellent lunch and tea.

200
years at SABC
One of the many highlights
in recent years was the our 200th birthday weekend
in June 2005. Central to these celebrations was our 'evening
with Helen Shapiro' on Saturday 25th June which was the actual
anniversary. We rejoice in a wonderful weekend and many friends
joining us to celebrate. More photos and a breakdown of our various
anniversary activities are included on our Special
Events page.
